The 1957 Chevrolet Corvette Big Brake Airbox is a rare, performance-oriented version of the Corvette designed specifically for racing.
It is equipped with the “Big Brake” option, officially known as RPO 684, which includes heavy-duty brakes with finned drums, heavy-duty suspension, and unique metallic brake linings to improve cooling and performance under racing conditions.
The “Airbox” refers to a cold-air induction system, part of the RPO 579D option, that improved engine performance by providing cooler, denser air to the fuel-injected 283 cu. in. V-8 engine. Only 43 of these models were produced in 1957.
